Little cousin to Toshiba's new Tecra 9000, the AU$5280 Portégé 4000, announced last month, also comes with integrated connectivity for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless networks. But although Toshiba wrapped the Portégé 4000 in a smaller chassis with different components and stamped a lower price tag on it, some will still find it too expensive for their tastes. What you get for the money, though, is a lot of easy connectivity in a light package.
If its elegant design, ultra portability and versatility doesn’t lure you in, then the superb performance of the Portégé 3480CT should. Suitable for intense use or for those on the go, this notebook is a standout in the portable PC market.
The Gateway Solo 1150CLs' performance isn't road-warrior-class, but it offers a good mix of features that make it solid value.
